In a scathing critique, Kim Yo-jong, the deputy head of the Workers’ Party of Korea, dismissed South Korea’s Armed Forces Day celebration as a “ridiculous farce” and openly mocked the unveiling of the new intercontinental ballistic missile “Hwasong-5” as a “gigantic joke.”
She described the event as a mere spectacle with no lasting impact, comparing it to a pack of stray dogs passing through a stream, leaving behind no trace or impression. Kim further ridiculed the display of US strategic bomber B-1B during the celebration, calling it a scene unique to former colony South Korea.
As for the newly revealed Hwasong-5 missile, Kim belittled its military significance, dubbing the transporter-erector-launcher vehicle as a “deformed moon carrier.” She emphasized North Korea’s steadfastness in the face of nuclear powers and criticized South Korea’s reliance on conventional weaponry.
Kim also took a swipe at Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s hawkish stance, labeling it as a desperate attempt that exposes his underlying anxiety. The criticism underscores North Korea’s dismissive attitude towards South Korea’s military capabilities and political posturing.
