Yoon rejects “twin special prosecutor law,” views stock manipulation as family business plan.

Park Chan-dae, the Democratic Party’s chief nominee, warned President Yoon Suk-yeol that rejecting the “Kim Gun-hee Special Counsel Law” would be seen as condoning stock market manipulation as a family business. Referencing Yoon’s past statement about elections being “family businesses,” Park highlighted the controversy surrounding Kim Gun-hee’s alleged involvement in the “Dog Apology” Instagram post that sparked criticism for suspected stock price manipulation at Deutsche Motors. Furthermore, JTBC reported that Kim Gun-hee’s alleged accomplice, Kim Ah-moo, referred to Kim Gun-hee as part of the “BP Family,” implicating her in stock market manipulation.

Park criticized Yoon for dismissing the special counsel by suggesting that his refusal implies guilt. He urged Yoon to prioritize fairness in the investigation into Kim Gun-hee’s case, emphasizing that the prosecution’s past indiscriminate investigations targeted opposition leaders while neglecting proper scrutiny of Kim’s case. Park asserted that Koreans are outraged by the unfairness not only in the selection of the national football team coach but also in the actions of the country’s highest authority. He declared that accepting the Kim Gun-hee Special Counsel Law would demonstrate Yoon’s commitment to justice, despite Yoon exercising his right to veto it.
