Amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, the United States organized a special flight from Beirut to Istanbul to evacuate American citizens. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller revealed that around 7,000 U.S. citizens in Lebanon had registered for information on leaving the country, with some seeking assistance.
The flight on Wednesday, with a capacity of about 300, carried approximately 100 Americans and their family members. Miller highlighted that Washington had been collaborating with airlines since Saturday to secure seats for Americans on commercial flights out of Lebanon. The evacuation efforts aimed to ensure the safety and well-being of American citizens amidst the growing tensions in the region.
