United Nations Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric Warns of Rising Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon

UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric issued a warning about an acute humanitarian crisis unfolding in Lebanon, as a result of mass displacement and Israel’s ongoing evacuation orders.

According to Dujarric, over 100,000 people have fled from Lebanon to Syria, with more than 200,000 others being displaced within southern Lebanon. The UN Secretary-General has launched a $426 million emergency humanitarian appeal to provide aid to one million affected individuals over the next three months.

In addition, various UN agencies and partners are on the ground in Lebanon, providing essential supplies and support to those in need. Dujarric emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire to prevent further escalation of the crisis in Lebanon.

Ongoing Genocide in Gaza

The dire situation in Gaza was also highlighted, with ongoing Israeli bombardments causing civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure. Humanitarian partners are working to provide food assistance to the besieged population, although supplies remain limited.

Medical evacuations from Gaza are also facing challenges, with many patients in need of specialized care still awaiting evacuation. The UN continues to monitor and respond to the unfolding crisis in both Lebanon and Gaza.
