Ukraine to get EUR 22M in trucks from demining coalition

The Demining Capabilities Coalition has allocated EUR 22 million to support the Ukraine Army by purchasing pickups and trucks for the State Special Transport Service and the Support Forces Command. Lithuania will provide EUR 15 million, and Sweden will provide EUR 7 million for this initiative. The decision was made at a Coalition meeting in Reykjavík, Iceland, where the list of purchases for humanitarian and combat demining was discussed.

The meeting also focused on developing the capabilities of the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Ukraine’s demining units for the next decade. Colonel Ruslan Berehulia highlighted the importance of humanitarian demining in the liberated territories and addressed the challenges facing mine action.

Within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, eight coalitions involving 34 countries have been established to support Ukraine’s defense efforts. This collaboration aims to enhance demining capabilities and ensure a safer environment in conflict-affected areas.

Overall, the Demining Capabilities Coalition’s investment will significantly contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and safeguarding the well-being of its citizens.
