Turkey-Kuwait’s ‘Sudan Ship’ delivers aid to Port Sudan

Relief Ship Arrives in Port Sudan carrying Aid from Turkey and Kuwait

The “Sudan Ship,” loaded with around 2,500 tons of relief materials as part of a partnership between Türkiye and Kuwait, made its way to Port Sudan on Wednesday. Sudanese officials, including Culture and Information Minister Graham Abdelkader and Transport Minister Abubakr Abu al-Qasim, were present to welcome the aid ship. The Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz, and the Charge d’Affaires of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Khartoum, Mohammed Ibrahim al-Hamed, were also in attendance.

The Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid of Sudan, Selva Adem, commended the efforts of Kuwait and Türkiye in supporting the Sudanese people. He emphasized the government’s dedication to delivering aid to those in need, especially in the post-war period. Yildiz expressed Ankara’s solidarity with Sudan, highlighting the importance of drawing global attention to the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The aid, provided by the Kuwait Relief Society under the directive of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, exceeded $2 million in cost. Kuwait remains committed to supporting Sudan throughout this challenging period.
