Protesters Face Crackdown in Rivers, Kano, and FCT, Abuja

Protesters in Rivers, Kano, and FCT, Abuja faced harsh treatment from security forces and thugs as they pushed through with their demonstrations on October 1. The protests were part of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance movement aiming to address economic hardships in Nigeria.

While some leaders were arrested and protesters dispersed in Kano, there were peaceful demonstrations in Lagos, Ibadan, and Ondo. In Port Harcourt, police and thugs disrupted the protest, refusing media coverage of the incident.

Despite crackdowns in Abuja and Lagos, protesters continued to demand good governance and an end to economic challenges. In Ondo, residents joined the protest against high fuel prices and inflation.

Call for Dialogue and Government Response

The United Action Front of the Civil Society urged the government to engage in dialogue with protest leaders to resolve issues peacefully. Leaders called for ethical handling of protests by security forces to prevent violence and riots.

As tensions continue between protesters and the government, the need for open communication and mutual understanding becomes crucial to address the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria.
