Orsi and Cosse (L) also pledge to work for the right of Uruguayans living abroad to vote at local consulates

Presidential hopeful Yamandú Orsi and his running mate Carolina Cosse made a strategic move by reaching out to Uruguayan residents in Argentina in hopes of gaining their support in the upcoming elections on Oct. 27. Orsi also expressed his intention to improve Uruguay’s relationship with Argentina’s Libertarian government led by Javier Milei, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong ties with neighbors regardless of political differences for the benefit of the people.

Highlighting the lack of voting rights for Uruguayans abroad, Orsi promised to address this issue if elected, acknowledging the significance of allowing all citizens to participate in shaping the country’s future. Cosse echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of enabling emigrants to vote to maintain their connection to their homeland. Their outreach aims to include all Uruguayans, regardless of where they reside, in the political process.
