US Policy in the Middle East a “Complete Failure,” Says Russian Foreign Ministry
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has declared Washington’s policy in the Middle East under President Joe Biden as a “complete failure” following a surge in violence in the region. The criticism comes after Iran launched a significant missile strike against Israel in retaliation for recent events in the region.
According to reports, Iran targeted Israel with 181 ballistic missiles, with most being intercepted by Israeli air defenses. Iranian officials cited the assassination of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders as reasons for the attack. In response, Israel has vowed to retaliate and has launched a military campaign in Lebanon.
Commenting on the escalating situation, Zakharova blamed US policy for the violence, highlighting the White House’s inability to resolve crises effectively. The ongoing conflict in the region has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties and shows no signs of abating.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned of the imminent threat of a large-scale war in the Middle East and criticized the US for hindering efforts to seek a ceasefire. The situation remains tense, with calls for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions being overshadowed by military action.
