Sgt-Maj Nazar Itkin, a 21-year-old soldier from Kiryat Ata, Israel, tragically fell in Lebanon alongside seven other soldiers. The community mourns the loss of this brave hero, who was a beloved member of the Golani Reconnaissance Unit of the Golani Brigade.
Mayor Ya’akov Peretz praised Itkin’s dedication and sacrifice, offering condolences to his family and declaring him a “Hero of Israel.” World leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, also expressed sorrow and gratitude for the fallen soldiers.
Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Azman, extended sympathies to Itkin’s family, highlighting the common struggle of both Ukraine and Israel against hostile forces. Itkin’s father, a Ukrainian military member, has also bravely defended his country.
As the nation grieves this profound loss, it is a reminder of the sacrifices made to protect freedom and security. Let us honor the memory of Sgt-Maj Nazar Itkin and all the fallen heroes who gave their lives in service of their countries.
