Chief prosecutor Ute Lindemann labeled Christian B. as a “dangerous psychopathic sadist” and recommended a 15-year prison sentence, asserting a high risk of re-offense. The accused faced allegations of two rapes and two cases of child sexual abuse in Portugal between 2000 and 2017.
Prosecution and Defense
Lindemann sought a total of 15 years for the crimes, while B.’s defense team questioned the evidence against him and secured the cancellation of an arrest warrant over a previous case. Christian B. was also linked to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in 2003, with German prosecutors hinting at concrete evidence of her death.
Future Proceedings
The defense will present their case on October 7, with a verdict expected shortly after. Should B. be acquitted in Braunschweig and escape charges in the “Maddie” case, his lawyers anticipate his release in the first half of next year.
