Fubara Declares Thursday, Friday Public Holidays – The Guardian Nigeria News

Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared public holidays on Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4, 2024, for residents to travel to their communities and participate in the upcoming Local Government elections on Saturday, October 5. In a broadcast from the Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara emphasized the importance of voter participation and assured the public of a fair and credible election process. He announced strict restrictions on vehicular movement from midnight on Friday to 5pm on Election Day to ensure security and orderly conduct.

Fubara urged registered voters to exercise their franchise at the polling units and commended the State Government’s efforts to provide funds and logistics for the election. He emphasized the State’s commitment to security and cautioned against any violations of the movement restrictions on Election Day. The governor expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their cooperation and called on citizens to support the RSIEC in conducting a successful election.
