KNDS, the Franco-German defense conglomerate, has recently opened a subsidiary in Kyiv to focus on maintaining and repairing its systems, such as Leopard tanks, CAESAR artillery systems, and PzH 2000 howitzers. This move aims to support cooperation between Ukrainian government institutions, the local armaments industry, and KNDS. KNDS Ukraine LLC will enhance the combat readiness of various systems, including main battle tanks and anti-aircraft tanks, through maintenance and repair services.
Moreover, KNDS and Ukrainian industry plan to collaborate on joint production of 155-mm artillery ammunition and manufacturing spare parts using advanced production technologies. This initiative will strengthen the defense industry in Ukraine and contribute to improving the combat capabilities of the country’s armed forces.
In a sign of further cooperation, Ukraine’s Minister of Strategic Industries and France’s Minister of Armed Forces recently signed a Declaration of Intent to boost collaboration in the defense sector. The establishment of KNDS Ukraine signifies a step towards enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities by providing local support for KNDS systems maintenance and repair.
