Attacks at Israeli Embassies in Nordic Capitals

Amidst rising tensions in the Middle East, explosions and gunfire near Israeli embassies in Denmark and Sweden have sparked investigations by local police. In Copenhagen, two blasts near the Israeli embassy led to the arrest of three Swedish nationals, while in Stockholm, the Israeli embassy was targeted in a shooting incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either case.

The incidents occurred as Iran fired missiles at Israel, prompting heightened international fears. In Copenhagen, police suspect hand grenades were used in the explosions, with three suspects arrested, while in Stockholm, a shooting incident is under investigation.

The Danish police are yet to establish a link between the incidents and the Israeli embassy. Security measures have been stepped up at Jewish locations following the events. In Sweden, investigations into an aggravated weapons offence are ongoing, with police actively reviewing surveillance footage.

These incidents add to a series of security threats against Israeli interests in Sweden since the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023. Increased surveillance and security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of Israeli interests and the Jewish community in the region.
