In a recent interview with The Washington Post, former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his admiration for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that they had a good relationship during his time in office. However, Trump’s tone towards Zelensky has become more critical, accusing him of favoring Democrats in the upcoming election and refusing to make deals with Russia.
Following a meeting in New York City, Trump praised Zelensky for not assisting with investigations related to Trump’s impeachment trial in 2019. Zelensky had previously described a controversial phone call between the two as “normal” and later distanced himself from U.S. election matters.
Trump has claimed that he would resolve the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours if elected, without providing specific details. Despite criticizing Zelensky in the past, Trump stated that he had learned a lot from their recent meeting and remains committed to ending the war as soon as possible.
Additionally, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris criticized demands for concessions from Ukraine during a joint press conference with Zelensky in Washington, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Ukraine’s sovereignty.
