A tragic knife attack has shaken Shanghai, China’s largest city, as three people lost their lives and 15 others were injured at a suburban supermarket. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Lin, was swiftly apprehended by police following the attack. It is believed that Lin had travelled to Shanghai to express his frustration over a personal financial dispute, according to early investigations conducted by the local Songjiang police branch.
While the nation was gearing up for the traditional “Golden Week” holiday, which coincides with National Day on October 1, this violent act served as a grim reminder of the rising trend of public stabbing incidents in China. Authorities have often attributed such incidents to mental health issues, with recent attacks claiming multiple lives in various parts of the country.
