In a meeting in New York, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bassam Sabbagh discussed cooperation with the UNDP Executive Administrator Achim Steiner. They focused on enhancing the program’s activities in Syria, including early recovery projects and resilience support.
Minister Sabbagh highlighted the urgent need for increased funding for humanitarian and development efforts in Syria amidst rising needs. He called on donors to fulfill their pledges and emphasized the importance of lifting unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and EU on Syria.
Steiner reaffirmed the program’s commitment to collaborating with the Syrian government and expanding activities to meet the growing needs in the region. The ongoing cooperation aims to address the challenges faced in Syria under current circumstances.
