South Korea showcased its most powerful ballistic missile and other weapons targeting North Korea during a grand Armed Forces Day ceremony, with the president warning of devastating consequences if North Korea uses nuclear weapons.
President Yoon Suk Yeol emphasized that any attempt by North Korea to use nuclear weapons would lead to the collapse of its regime, urging them to abandon the belief that nuclear weapons provide protection.
The display of military equipment included the unveiling of South Korea’s Hyunmoo-5 ballistic missile, capable of carrying a large warhead to penetrate deep underground bunkers in North Korea. The U.S. also demonstrated support by flying a B-1B bomber during the event.
Amid escalating tensions, North Korea recently revealed a uranium-enrichment facility and threatened to enhance its nuclear arsenal for diplomatic leverage, while criticizing U.S. military deployments in South Korea.
With concerns of further provocations and a potential ICBM test, the region faces heightened security risks as both sides engage in military posturing.
