Russian PM Mishustin Arrives in Tehran for Talks With Iranian Pres.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin made a significant visit to Tehran, meeting with Iranian President Massed Pezeshkian. This visit precedes a scheduled meeting between Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan. Mishustin’s trip is in the midst of Western accusations against Iran for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, as well as reports on Iran mediating talks between Russia and Yemen’s Houthi militias.

Upon his arrival in Tehran, Mishustin was warmly received by Iranian officials, including Petroleum Minister Mohsen Pakhnejad, and Russian diplomats. The visit aims to strengthen Russian-Iranian trade and economic cooperation, especially in the fields of transport, energy, industry, and agriculture. Western governments have accused Iran of providing drones and missiles to Russia, with the EU imposing sanctions on Iran for such actions.
