Russia seeks victory in Ukraine battle with unprecedented defense budget

The Russian government is planning to allocate a record 32.5% of its spending towards defense next year, up from 28.3% this year, in a bid to gain the upper hand in the ongoing war in Ukraine. The proposed budget includes over $145 billion for national defense, a significant increase from the previous year.

The conflict in Ukraine has been draining resources from both sides, with Ukraine receiving support from Western allies. Despite facing economic strain, Russia continues to bolster its military forces and invest in new technologies like Shahed drones.

As the war in Ukraine approaches its third year, President Zelenskyy seeks continued support from the United States, while President Putin faces the challenge of sustaining Russia’s military efforts. Recent missile strikes and drone attacks by Russia have intensified the conflict, with ongoing tensions on both sides.

With a focus on defense spending in the upcoming budget, Russia aims to strengthen its military capabilities and maintain its position in the region. The situation remains volatile, with no clear end in sight to the conflict.
