Youths in Ogun State Remain Unmoved Amid #FearlessOctober1 Protests
Despite the ongoing #FearlessOctober1 protests happening nationwide, the youths in Ogun State have chosen to steer clear of the demonstrations. Activities in key areas like Mowe, Interchange, Okemosan, Panseke, and Kuto continued as usual, with security personnel strategically placed to maintain order.
A High Court in Abeokuta had limited the protests to specific venues, including stadiums in Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Ota. The court’s decision came in response to an application filed by the State Attorney-General, with instructions for the police to enforce the ruling for seven days.
While protests were observed in Lagos and Abuja, Ogun State’s youth remained unconvinced of the effectiveness of demonstrations. One youth, Jamiu, questioned the impact of protests on national issues, while another, Ayo Adeyemi, expressed concerns about the risks involved in joining such movements.
Despite the nationwide fervor, Ogun State’s youth opted for caution and skepticism, highlighting a divergence in the region’s response to the ongoing protests.
