JPPI’s 2024 report: Rise in global antisemitism, Israeli political turmoil

Antisemitic incidents and assaults have surged globally over the past year, as revealed in the Jewish People Policy Institute’s (JPPI) 2024 Annual Assessment of the Jewish People titled A Year of War. The report highlights a concerning rise in violent antisemitic assaults in the US, France, and the UK post-October 7 attacks on Israel.

The report also emphasizes Israel’s role in strengthening Jewish identity globally, with calls for subsidized tuition for Jewish students studying in Israel. However, there are conflicting views on Israel’s centrality in Jewish life among Diaspora Jews.

Political instability in Israel, strained Israel-US relations, and demographic changes are other key concerns outlined in the assessment. Despite the challenges, there is hope for social resilience within Israel.

Prof. Yedidia Stern, JPPI President, emphasizes the need for urgent steps from the Israeli government to address these challenges and strengthen the connection with Diaspora Jewry as outlined in the report.
