The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with a flag-raising ceremony and reception. China’s national flag and the HKSAR flag were hoisted at the Golden Bauhinia Square in Hong Kong, accompanied by the national anthem and celebratory helicopter flyovers.
Dignitaries like Vice Chairman Leung Chun-ying, HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee, and representatives from various governmental bodies attended the event. Lee highlighted the progress made by Hong Kong in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities, enhancing governance, and aligning with national development goals.
He emphasized the symbiotic relationship between Hong Kong and China, with the country’s rapid growth providing opportunities for Hong Kong to thrive. Maintaining the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, Hong Kong seeks to leverage its strengths for economic growth and improved livelihoods.
