Amnesty International urges Slovenia, Montenegro to halt MV Kathrin – Yemen Press Agency

Amnesty International has called on Slovenia and Montenegro to prevent the Portuguese-flagged MV Kathrin, carrying explosives for Israel, from docking at their ports to avoid contributing to potential war crimes in Gaza.

The organization highlighted the danger posed by the munitions on board, emphasizing the risk of fueling war crimes in Gaza if the cargo reaches its destination.

Namibia and Portugal confirmed that the MV Kathrin contains explosives bound for Israel, leading Namibia to deny entry to the vessel in August due to the presence of eight containers of RDX Hexogen explosives.

Amnesty International reiterated the importance of upholding international humanitarian law, which prohibits the transfer of arms to conflict parties when there is a high likelihood of them being used for war crimes or other serious violations.
