Agriculture plays a significant role in Azerbaijan’s economy, with Deputy Executive Director of AZPROMO, Tural Hajili, highlighting its importance during an international conference at the Baku Climate Action Week. He emphasized the government’s Harmonia initiative aimed at enhancing climate resilience, particularly crucial for the agriculture sector, which contributes about 5% to the country’s GDP and plays a vital role in exports exceeding $1 billion annually.
Hajili also addressed the issue of carbon dioxide emissions from agriculture, stating that more funding and investment are required for necessary transformations. Companies attending the event have already taken steps to reduce emissions, with AZPROMO and the Ministry of Economy committed to supporting such efforts. By promoting expertise and attracting foreign direct investment, Azerbaijan aims to further develop its agricultural sector and advance sustainability initiatives.
