The Defense Ministry reported that 12 rail cars loaded with ammunition, including Western-made rounds, were destroyed in a single missile strike. The Iskander missiles hit the train as it pulled into the station, according to the Military Chronicle Telegram channel.
Military correspondents estimated the train was carrying between 840 to 1,300 tons of ammunition, a quantity similar to the recent attack on a major ammo depot in Toropets, Central Russia.
