Reports: Israel preparing for ground operation in Lebanon soon

Israel is gearing up for a ground attack in Lebanon, with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant hinting at the imminent next phase. The operation is expected to focus on clearing terrorist infrastructure along the border in order to protect Israeli communities.

The U.S. officials have communicated that the campaign will be smaller in scale compared to the 2006 war against Hezbollah and will involve targeted raids in southern Lebanon. Despite concerns from U.S. President Joe Biden about the escalation, Israel seems determined to proceed with the limited incursion.

While there were talks to prevent a major ground attack, Israeli officials have assured their U.S. counterparts that the swift commando operations will not lead to an occupation of southern Lebanon. The situation remains tense as the possibility of a larger assault looms.

Defense Minister Gallant’s interactions with Israeli border communities and armored fighters indicate the gravity of the situation. The Pentagon continues discussions with Israel on the best course of action, emphasizing the need for strategic coordination.
