Government Official Narrowly Escapes Attack on Juba – Bor Highway
Minister Nyalella John Chuol of Parliamentary Affairs in Jonglei State recently faced a terrifying ordeal when armed assailants attacked her government vehicle near the Mogiri military post along the Juba-Bor Highway. Recounting the incident to Radio Tamzuj, she described how her car was ambushed by men in military uniform while en route to Bor for a meeting.
Despite the attackers’ attempts to stop the vehicle, Minister Nyalella and her driver managed to escape on foot after the car broke down. The assailants looted all their personal belongings, leaving them with only a handbag and a phone.
Having reported the incident to the police in Juba, Minister Nyalella emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the motive behind the attack. Meanwhile, Governor Mahjoub Biel Turuk has promised government support in the investigation process.
This brazen attack serves as a reminder of the security challenges faced by government officials in conflict-prone regions. While Minister Nyalella emerged unharmed, the incident underscores the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of public servants working in high-risk areas.
