Israeli air campaign hits Beirut apartment building

An Israeli airstrike targeted a residential building in Al Cola, Beirut, early Monday, as reported by Lebanese TV channel al-Jadeed. This marked the first time Israel hit the capital since the conflict with Hezbollah resumed in 2023.

Reports from a security source suggest at least two fatalities from the strike on the building’s upper floor. Israel’s military has not yet commented on the incident.

Israel’s recent attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthi in Yemen raise concerns about escalating Middle East tensions involving Iran and the U.S., Israel’s main ally.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports over 1,000 deaths and 6,000 injuries in recent weeks, with a million displaced. Israel plans to continue assaults to secure its northern regions from Hezbollah.

Most attacks target southern Lebanon, a Hezbollah stronghold, or Beirut’s suburbs. The situation remains tense and evolving, impacting civilians on both sides.
