Hong Kong’s largest think tank, the Our Hong Kong Foundation, is taking steps to repair the city’s tarnished reputation due to strained US-China relations. Chairman Bernard Chan emphasized the need for overseas exchanges to showcase Hong Kong’s true essence amidst geopolitical tensions that have led to concerns among the government and businesses.
Chan, a prominent businessman and former Executive Council convenor, highlighted that Hong Kong must adapt to a changing landscape in US-China relations regardless of the US election outcome. He urged local businesses to embrace the “new norm” and prepare for potential policy shifts.
Whether it’s Vice-President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump in power, Chan stressed the importance of Hong Kong being realistic about future developments. The think tank aims to engage with international stakeholders to foster understanding and support for Hong Kong in a volatile global environment.
