Hamas leader in Lebanon killed in air strike – Hamas official

Hamas leader in Lebanon, Fatah Sharif Abu al-Amine, was killed in an air strike at his home in the El-Buss camp in south Lebanon, along with his family members. The strike was described as a “terrorist and criminal assassination” by Hamas. This incident follows the recent killings of three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in another strike in Beirut’s Kola district.

Israel has a history of targeting Hamas officials in Lebanon, with previous strikes resulting in the death of high-ranking members. The Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, created in the aftermath of the 1948 war, have traditionally been managed by Palestinian factions for security, with the Lebanese army avoiding interference.
