Greece’s ‘Safe Youth’ app to tackle teen violence surge

[InTime News]

Greece is set to introduce a new mobile app, “Safe Youth,” to assist teenagers dealing with threats or violence outside of school. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis unveiled this initiative in response to a recent increase in such incidents, aiming to address the issue effectively.

The app will empower at-risk teenagers to notify the authorities in real-time, enhancing their safety and security. Mitsotakis emphasized that while the state cannot replace the role of the family in combating this trend, government initiatives to tackle juvenile delinquency and child neglect will play a crucial role.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister outlined upcoming reforms, including stricter penalties for youth firearm possession and prison terms for repeat offenders. By implementing these measures, Greece hopes to combat rising teen violence and safeguard the well-being of its youth.
