Tragedy struck in Ibadan as five people died after participating in a ‘Love Feast’ event organized by a white garment church. The incident, which left the community in shock, occurred in Apata, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State. While some suspect the Ipese meal as the cause of the deaths, investigations are still ongoing to determine the actual cause.
Despite consuming the same food as the victims, some attendees did not experience any adverse effects, leading to doubts about the connection between the deaths and the Ipese meal. Various government agencies, including the police and the World Health Organization, are investigating the incident to uncover the truth.
At the Infectious Disease Centre in Olodo, 50 victims have been treated and discharged, while others continue to receive care. The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident and assured that thorough investigations are underway to provide clarity on the tragic event.
