PDP’s parallel congresses in Ogun cause confusion

The Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held its State Congress on Sunday, announcing Rotarian Abayomi Tella as the newly elected chairman. The election, supervised by INEC and other security agencies, saw Tella pledge to rejuvenate and reposition the party for success in the 2027 elections.

Tella emphasized the need to restore the party’s legacy as a ruling party, highlighting the economic prosperity brought by the PDP before the current administration. He called on aggrieved members to unite and avoid spreading false information through the media.

Addressing concerns about a parallel congress, the State Congress Committee Chairman, Kabiru Baffa Jauro, dismissed it as an exercise in futility. He assured that the official Congress was conducted in adherence to guidelines, with proper security arrangements and full documentation of delegates.

Despite the controversy, the PDP aims to consolidate its support base and prepare for upcoming elections, urging former members to return and strengthen the party for future victories.
