NGO Warns Artisans, Entrepreneurs to Avoid Algeria

The Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights has sounded the alarm for Moroccan artisans, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs, warning them of the dangers present in Algeria regarding human rights. Following strained relations between the two countries, including diplomatic rifts and visa restrictions, concerns have risen over the safety of Moroccans in Algeria.

Reports of over 500 cases of Moroccan citizens being detained without trial or charges in Algeria have raised red flags. The League’s president, Adel Chiquito, criticized the unjust legal proceedings and pressure on artisans to share their craft with Algerians, facing detention if they refuse.

Chiquito highlighted the broader human rights abuses in Algeria, urging the international community to intervene. With tensions escalating, he pointed to historical grievances and recent incidents to underscore the urgent need for protection of Moroccans in Algeria.
