Morocco teams up with Tata Advanced Systems India to produce armored vehicles

Morocco and India’s Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) have joined forces to produce the WhAP 8×8 armored vehicle locally. This partnership, known as TATA Advanced Systems Morocco (TASM), aligns with King Mohammed VI’s vision for a modernized military and increased self-sufficiency. The venture includes a new production facility to fulfill domestic needs and cater to global markets, solidifying Morocco as a regional defense hub.

Signed by various Moroccan ministries, the investment deal offers financial perks to boost job creation and local integration. With 90 direct and 250 indirect jobs in the pipeline, Morocco is set to raise its in-country integration from 35% to 50% over the next few years. As one of Africa’s leading military powers, Morocco is fortifying its defense capabilities through strategic collaborations and the upcoming development of specialized industrial zones for military equipment.

These zones, focusing on battle tanks, weaponry, and ammunition systems, will enhance Morocco’s defense supply chain while reinforcing its position within the global defense sector. Exciting times lie ahead for Morocco’s defense industry with these ambitious initiatives in place.
