Exciting developments are underway in Attica’s Megara area, with plans for upgrading Megara Airport, constructing a new suburban railway, and restructuring urban transport. Deputy Transport Minister Vasilis Oikonomou highlighted these priorities during a recent visit to Megara.
The airport upgrade, urban transport restructuring, and Megara’s integration into Athens Urban Transport Organization’s planning were discussed at a town hall meeting. Progress was also reviewed at the construction site of the new suburban railway at Nea Peramos, featuring four new stations.
This railway extension will connect Western Attica to key locations like Athens, Athens International Airport, Piraeus port, and the wider railway network. With a total cost estimate of €95,742,101.92, the project aims to reach completion by 2026, promising improved connectivity and transportation options for the region.
