LP laments, Soludo praises Anambra LG poll – The Guardian News

Emotions ran high in Anambra State as the council elections kicked off, aiming to elect officials at the local level. While APGA supporters praised the election, opposition parties expressed disappointment, with the Labour Party vowing to challenge the results in court.

The LP chairman, Peter Okoye, accused APGA of rigging the election by withholding result sheets and vandalizing materials. He criticized the lack of professionalism in the conduct of the ruling party.

Chudi Chukelu, LP’s candidate for Idemili North Council, highlighted the shortcomings in the election process, while Obinna Agom-Chine criticized “mercantilist members” within the party. Reports of violence and ballot snatching also marred the election in some areas.

Despite the controversies, Governor Chukwuma Soludo praised the early commencement of voting and described the exercise as transparent and credible. The contrasting perspectives on the council elections reflect the complexities of the political landscape in Anambra State.
