J&K Assembly Elections ’24

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that the BJP would secure an absolute majority in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah firmly stated that only the NC-Congress alliance would form the new government. Abdullah asserted during a press briefing in Baramulla district that no government other than the NC and Congress would be formed in the state.

This strong rebuttal comes after Modi highlighted a significant voter turnout in previous phases, suggesting support for the BJP. Omar, a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, also criticized the BJP for security failures in the region, linking the rise in militancy to the negligence of the ruling party.

Expressing confidence in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Omar emphasized the coalition’s commitment to progress. Additionally, he urged the government of India to take a more active role in international diplomacy, calling for pressure on Israel to end civilian killings in conflict areas like Gaza and Lebanon.
