Italy prepared to deploy troops to UN for Israel-recognized Palestinian state

Italy is poised to play a significant role in promoting peace in the Middle East by offering to send troops to the UN for the establishment of a Palestinian state recognized by Israel. In an interview with Avvenire, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani emphasized the need for a ceasefire in both Lebanon and Gaza amid escalating tensions following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Tajani stressed the importance of diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and ensure the safety of Italian citizens in the region.

When addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN, Tajani acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself but expressed concern over the civilian casualties in Palestine. He highlighted the need for integration between Gaza and the West Bank to establish a unified Palestinian government. Tajani proposed the deployment of an Arab-led UN mission to facilitate this integration and support the establishment of a Palestinian state that is recognized by both Israel and the international community.
