A fire extinguisher found on the rail tracks between Govindpuri and Bhimsen stations in India sparked a scare, leading to the application of emergency brakes by a passenger train. Thankfully, railway officials determined that the cylinder was a fire extinguisher belonging to the railways and not a malicious act.
A fire extinguisher that may have accidentally fallen off a train set off a scare on Sunday when the driver of another passenger train applied brakes after spotting the cylinder-like object on the rail tracks between Govindpuri and Bhimsen stations here, according to officials.
The loco pilot immediately passed the information to the control room. The cylinder was later found to be a fire extinguisher, belonging to the railways.
Railway officials launched an investigation with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) and found no criminal intent behind the incident. They concluded that the fire safety cylinder was accidentally dropped from another train.
The incidents of objects on the tracks are being monitored closely after recent similar occurrences, including a boy placing a concrete pillar on the tracks and an attempt to derail a train with an LPG cylinder.
The railway authorities remain vigilant, with the RPF forming special teams to solve these cases and ensure the safety of passengers and trains.
