President Joe Biden has expressed his support for Israel’s actions in targeting and killing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. Biden deemed Nasrallah’s death as “a measure of justice” for the countless victims, including Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians, who have been targeted by Hezbollah’s reign of terror over the years.
Biden emphasized the US’s unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis, citing the recent conflict that began with Hamas attacks on Israel. The President directed further enhancement of US military forces in the Middle East to deter aggression and reduce the risk of a broader regional war.
While aiming to de-escalate conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon through diplomatic efforts, Biden urged for agreements that would ensure the safety of people in both regions and remove threats to Israel. Hezbollah confirmed Nasrallah’s death in a massive airstrike in Beirut, with Israel having reportedly killed over 700 Lebanese individuals in the past week.
