Beirut residents seek refuge on beaches and streets amid Israeli strikes

Recent airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs by the Israeli military have forced hundreds of families to seek shelter on beaches and public squares in the city, with many displaced individuals coming from areas plagued by ongoing conflicts.

While recounting their harrowing escape, Syrian refugee Fatima Chahine described fleeing Dahiyeh with her family amidst the chaos, seeking refuge on the Ramlet al-Bayda beach.

Her heartbreaking plea for a safe haven for her children resonates with many facing similar circumstances, such as Lebanese man Talal Ahmad Jassaf who contemplated seeking sanctuary in Syria despite the dangers en route.

The conflict has led to mass displacements on both sides of the border, highlighting the urgent need for humanitarian aid and diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation.
