US still mulling over potential long-range strikes on Russia

White House Considers Allowing Ukraine to Conduct Long-Range Attacks into Russia Despite Pentagon Skepticism

Recent reports from Politico indicate that the Biden administration is still in discussions regarding whether or not to grant Ukraine permission to use Western-supplied weapons for long-range attacks into Russia. This comes as Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky promotes his “victory plan” in the US, which includes seeking approval for strikes deep into Russian territory.

While the Pentagon remains skeptical of the strategic impact of such attacks, the White House has not completely dismissed the idea. Zelensky has been pushing for permission to use advanced weaponry from the US, UK, and France, with the latter two countries indicating their willingness to allow such strikes contingent on US approval.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that allowing Ukraine to conduct these attacks could escalate the conflict by directly involving the US and its allies. The Biden administration has expressed doubts about Zelensky’s plan, particularly his decision to launch incursions into Russia’s Kursk Region.

Despite ongoing discussions, the situation remains fluid as both sides assess the potential risks and benefits of such a move.
