Shinkafi supports DHQ probe on politicisation of banditry

Former governorship candidate in Zamfara and ex-Special Adviser to former governor Bello Matawalle, Sani Shinkafi, supports the Defence Headquarters’ investigation into banditry sponsorship in the North West. The initiative aims to bring sustainable peace and security to the region plagued by violence and kidnapping.

Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the group’s Executive Director, stressed the importance of accountability in the probe. The organization condemned politicians exploiting banditry for personal gain and called for an investigation into those misusing security challenges to siphon public funds.

The military’s success in tackling banditry under President Bola Tinubu’s directives has been substantial, leading to the elimination of notorious bandit leaders. Despite media attempts to link Matawalle to banditry, the group emphasized that such claims are politically motivated attacks to undermine his leadership.

The group highlighted the honorable service of previous Zamfara State Defence Ministers without facing similar accusations, affirming Matawalle’s dedication to national security and prosperity.
