SF Ard Fheis to discuss housing, health, cost of living

The Sinn Féin Ard Fheis in Athlone is set to tackle crucial issues such as housing, healthcare, the cost of living, and preparations for a united Ireland. With party leader Mary Lou McDonald delivering a keynote address at 6.30pm, Sinn Féin aims to present themselves as a viable alternative to the current government.

One of the key proposals is to eliminate the USC for average workers, along with significant reductions in childcare costs and measures to address the overall cost of living. The party also plans to prioritize a housing strategy that focuses on building affordable and social homes, surpassing the government’s current plan.

Despite recent setbacks in elections and polls, McDonald will rally the party in her main speech of the evening. Delegates have also voted to give members a greater voice in determining Sinn Féin’s stance on future constitutional referendums, following criticism over the handling of previous referendums.
