Ukrainian military intelligence specialists launched a series of cyberattacks on over 800 servers in Russia, destroying crucial data and documents. The attacks targeted military, administrative, and financial institutions supporting Russia’s operations against Ukraine. The loss of data caused a significant disruption across various sectors and highlighted Russia’s poor technical infrastructure.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian hackers have systematically targeted Russia’s digital networks. One attack disabled major Russian banks, leading to the suspension of internet banking services. Another attack on a Russian TV company resulted in war-related videos being broadcast on domestic channels.
On Sept. 6, Ukrainian cyber specialists, in collaboration with the hacker group “VO Team,” destroyed 18 servers in Russia. The hackers also targeted the Russian federal center “Osnovanie,” disrupting access to digital signature certifications. The hackers left a message stating that proceeds from selling the data would support the Ukrainian armed forces.
These cyberattacks demonstrate Ukraine’s active approach in combating Russian aggression through unconventional means.
