Rainfall has been incessant since Friday night and is expected to persist throughout the weekend.
According to the Home Ministry spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari, of the 66 reported casualties, 34 were in the capital city of Kathmandu.
Sixty individuals were reported injured and 3010 rescued across the country, Tiwari added.
Security forces, including the army, have been mobilized to aid in the ongoing rescue operations.
The government has issued flood warnings nationwide, urging caution and preparedness.
The main focus currently is on rescuing affected individuals and extending support to those in need, stated Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
