MMRDA Greenlights Rs 8,498 Cr Slum Rehab in Ramabai Nagar, Kamraj Nagar

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has given the green light to an Rs 8,498 crore slum rehabilitation project in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamraj Nagar in Ghatkopar East. The initiative aims to provide housing for around 17,000 slum dwellers and enhance urban development in the area. The decision comes just before the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls.

The project, spanning 31.82 hectares, will offer free 1BHK homes to eligible residents, along with improved infrastructure such as parks, health centers, and educational facilities. The scheme is set to be completed in 48 months and will also support the expansion of the Eastern Freeway up to Thane.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized the government’s dedication to improving living conditions for slum residents and boosting overall infrastructure. Metropolitan commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee hailed the project as a significant step towards modernizing Mumbai and creating a more inclusive city.
