One significant event was the 1982 invasion of southern Lebanon by Israel, where PLO leaders sought refuge. This invasion led to the creation of Hezbollah, a Shiite movement supported by Iran. The charismatic leader of Hezbollah, Abbas al-Musawi, was killed by an Israeli missile strike in 1992.
The operation also targeted individuals like Ali Hassan Salameh, head of Black September, and Gerald Bull, a Canadian expert hired by Saddam Hussein. These assassinations were part of Israel’s efforts to eliminate threats and seek retribution for the Munich attack.
